Information you give us

When you send a message, ask about advertising or submit a business listing, we receive what you enter — such as your name, email address, phone number, business details and message. We use it only to respond to you, publish the business listing you asked for, and manage advertising you purchase.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our web server records basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) for security and troubleshooting. We also count visits and actions on this site, such as pages viewed, ads and listings seen, and clicks on ads, directory categories, phone numbers and business websites, so we can report to advertisers how their ads and listings perform. These counts are anonymous: we don’t set cookies for them, we don’t store your IP address, and the code that tells one visit from another changes every week so no one can be followed over time. If we turn on Google Analytics, it receives these events too and sets its own analytics cookies; Google’s privacy policy applies to it, and we will update this page when it’s turned on. The site uses essential cookies needed for it to work; we do not use advertising cookies.

Text message alerts

If you sign up for text alerts, we keep your mobile number, the alerts you chose and a record of your consent, and use them only to send those alerts. Texts are delivered through our messaging provider. We do not share or sell your mobile number or text message opt-in information with anyone for their marketing. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to cancel, or HELP for help. You can also stop texts on our text alerts page.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help run the site (such as hosting and email), when required by law, or with your permission. Business listing details you submit are published on the site.

Links to other websites

We link to the City of Athol, other public agencies and local businesses. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.

Your choices

You can ask us to update or delete information you submitted, including removing a business listing, by contacting us.

Children

This site is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
